Welcome to Week 3 of the One Room Challenge. How have we been progressing for our Moody Modern Vintage Living Room? Let’s take a look:
Light and Dark Wall Paint
This week has been all about paint. After lots of paint swatches last week , we finally chose a dark paint color: Sherwin Williams Domino. It’s a warm black color that I think achieves that moody darkness without feeling cold.
To contrast the dark paint color, we also chose Sherwin Williams Natural Tan, which feels like a very neutral beige without reading as yellow.
To put this contrast to work, we painted the stairwell railing in SW Domino as well to get a pop of dark against the light backdrop of the stairwell walls.
We also painted outside the lines a bit-there’s more!
Moody Red Kitchen
Since the living room, dining room, kitchen, and the stairwell are all connected in one giant open concept, we decided to tackle the paint of the kitchen, too.
Staying on our theme of moody modern vintage, I finally mustered the courage to go with a statement color for the kitchen cabinets and go BURGUNDY.
Rather appropriately, this kitchen cabinet paint color is called Sherwin Williams Burgundy.
There are still a few finishing touches needed to really pull this kitchen together: cabinet hardware and a backsplash. Stay tuned for that next week!
Next week’s Project
Now that we have all the paint taken care of, it’s time to start decorating! I’ve got my eye on this wall. We’re leaving the scaffolding up so that we can install something fun on the entire wall. Stay tuned!
